1st Grade Pinch Pots
The 1st graders are making pinch pots this week. We LOVE clay here in the art room! We are concluding our unit on 3D shapes with organic forms. We talked about how some forms (the art word for 3D shapes) are geometric which means they have names- cube, cone, cylinder, rectangular prism, pyramid, sphere. There are also forms that exist in world that don't have names- your body, a chair, a flower, a seashell, etc. Forms that don't have names are known as organic forms. These pinch pots are the perfect example of an organic form. These pots are getting fired in the kiln this weekend and will be ready to glaze next week. These will come home in March. We certainly are excited about them!!
