Art Grades

 

We use SCALES to determine elementary art grades district wide.  The art teachers in the district have identified three art standards for each each grade level that are essential for students to master each year.  We call these standards essential learnings (A.K.A. ELs).  All students know which standards they are responsible for learning and are able to track their learning progress on the learning targets that they glue into their sktechbooks in art.  Additionally, we have added a BEHAVIOR SCALE to report cards this year. Grades are based on a 4 point scale.  

 

4- The student has reached mastery and is performing above grade level expectations for this sill.

3- The student is proficient in this skill.

2- The student knows and can use some of this skill.

1- The student can use this skill with help.

0- The student does not know how to use this skill or refuses to try to use this skill

 

Below you will find links to the learning targets for each grade level:

In kindergarten art, students will be able to use COLOR, SHAPE, and TEXTURE

In first grade art, students will be able to use LINE, FORM, and TEXTURE

In 2nd grade art, students will be able to use COLOR, SPACE, and LINE

In 3rd grade art, students will be able to use COLOR, SPACE, and TEXTURE

In 4th grade art, students will be able to use VALUE, SPACE, and LINE

In 5th grade art, students will be able to use ELEMENTS OF ART, ART HISTORY, and  ART CRITICISM
